Sudip Bandopadhyay's health condition is yet to improve, says hospital

Kolkata, May 23 (IBNS): Days after the release of the Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandopadhyay from the custody of Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) in Odisha and brought back to the city, Apollo Gleaneagles Hospital said that the MP's health condition is yet to improve in a medical report on Tuesday.

"Hon’ble MP Mr. Sudip Bandopadhyay's clinical condition is still a cause of concern. He is being monitored closely and appropriate treatment given. He would also undergo other tests to investigate for his significant weight loss," Apollo said in a medical report.

Badopadhyay was arrested by the CBI in early 2017 for his alleged involvement with the Rose Valley scam and was later taken to the agency's Odisha custody.

Though he was under CBI's custody, due to ill health the MP was in the hospital for a major period of his arrest.

On last Friday, a bench of Justice J.P. Das granted a bail to the (TMC)  MP by on a personal bond of rupees 25 lakh, slapping few conditions on Sudip Bandyopadhyay, which includes the surrender of his passport before the CBI.

The court has also asked him to not influence either the investigation process or its witnesses.

Last month, Sudip Bandyopadhyay's counsels moved to Odisha High Court, seeking his bail on medical grounds as the TMC MP is undergoing treatment at a privately-run hospital in Bhubaneswar.
