Strong earthquake tremors felt in Delhi, parts of north India

New Delhi/IBNS: Strong earthquake tremors were felt in the national capital, Lucknow and other parts of northern India on Tuesday evening, media reports said.

The epicentre of the earthquake has been reported to be in Nepal.

According to reports, the earthquake had an intensity of 5.1 on the Richter Scale.

The tremors were so strong in Lucknow that people had to run out of their houses in panic.

"An earthquake was recorded in Delhi on Tuesday sometime back. Tremors were felt in Delhi-National Capital Region," private weather agency Skymet tweeted.

Soon after the tremors were felt, #earthquake trended on Twitter.
