'Severe' air pollution forces closure of all schools in Delhi till further orders

New Delhi/UNI: Amid severe air pollution grappling the national capital, the Department of Education (DoE) falling under the Delhi government on Sunday announced closure of all schools till further orders.

However, online teaching activities and the examinations for Board classes will be conducted as per the guidelines issued earlier, the DoE said in a circular here.

All Delhi schools, including aided, unaided recognised, NDMC, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and Delhi Cantonment Board Schools will remain closed till further orders of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas, said the order.

The air quality in Delhi continued to remain in the 'very poor' category on Sunday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), with the overall air quality index (AQI) pegged at 365.

Exposure to poor air quality puts the children, especially young kids, at a number of health risks, including allergies, asthma, and other respiratory issues.
