Separatists must fear NSG presence: Amit Shah at NSG Hub inauguration

Kolkata/IBNS: Amid anti-CAA protests from left-wing students union, Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated 29 Special Composite Group Complex for National Security Gaurd(NSG) in Kolkata's satellite town Rajarhat and unveiled projects worth Rs 245 crore.

With the inauguration of the new NSG hub, he said the country has taken a step forward in ensuring sophisticated facilities, the elite counter-terrorism unit requires to deal with security emergencies.

NSG was founded under the Ministry of Home Affairs in 1986 to combat terrorist activities with a view to protect states against internal disturbances.

"Those who want to break India, should be afraid of NSG. If they still come to fight, it would the responsibility of NSG commandos to defeat them," he said.

Shah said India will not tolerate the entities trying to create unrest and violence within its boundaries.

"The Modi government will fulfill all the aspirations which NSG has from the government. We will provide the latest technology and equipment. The government will ensure good houses and living conditions for you," Shah said addressing the NSG personnel.

He, however, maintained that wars are won with gallantry and bravery and equipment and technology only have a limited role. Lauding the supreme sacrifices made by NSG commandos, the Home Minister said, even the most sophisticated technologies cannot replace bravery.

"Post the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the government decided to expand the NSG, and with this new hub, only coordination will be better," he added.

Shah said, India wants peace, but won't tolerate militancy on its soil.

"We are proud of our security personnel and their sacrifices, but we will not let them be the targets of terrorists. We have and we will go to any extent to avenge the attacks on our security forces," he asserted.

Shah said India is now among the few countries of the world which do not hesitate to step on enemy's soil to decimate terrorists who dare to attack Indian forces in ambush.
