Security forces eliminate three Lashkar militants in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 17 (IBNS): At least three Lashkar outfit militants were killed in a brief gunfight with forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday night, army said.

According to army sources, based on inputs army started the operation on Monday evening  in Sheikhpora Watergam near Bulbul Nowgam to eliminate the militants from the area.

"When army and special operation group of police zeroed in the area suspected militants opened fire on forces ensuing gunfight," said army officer in Srinagar.

During the gunfight, three local militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit were killed, officer added.

Army spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said that three militants have been killed in an operation in the district. “Operation is in progress,” he said.
