Satya Niketan building collapse: Owner, wife sent to 14-day judicial custody; son gets 2 days' police custody

Hariram Gupta and his wife Urmila Gupta were remanded to 14 days in judicial custody, while their son Mahesh Gupta was sent to two days of police custody.

The building, located near Delhi University's South Campus, collapsed at around 1.30 pm on Sunday while repair work was underway, trapping students and workers beneath the rubble.

Five MCD officials suspended

The fallout has also reached the civic administration. Five officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been suspended following the collapse.

The Delhi High Court has separately ordered a high-level inquiry into the role of civic authorities and their alleged lapses in connection with the building.
