Ahmedabad, Aug 20 (IBNS) Sanjiv Bhatt, the IPS officer, who had taken on Narendra Modi on the 2002 Gujarat pogrom and got sacked on Wednesday has drawn huge applause and hero's respect on his facebook page.
Bhatt was sacked on Wednesday after being placed under suspension from 2011 on grounds of not showing up at work, misusing the official car and threatening a constable- the charges he says are "fabricated."

He became famous for alleging that Narendra Modi, then chief minister of Gujarat, was complicit in the riots of 2002, in which more than 1000 people were killed.

Though the charges brought against him apparently look unrelated to his act of revolt against Modi, now the country's Prime Minister, and the establishment, greetings from his more than 42,000 facebook followers have poured in according on him the status of a hero.

"We are proud of you sir..your honesty will be remembered in History whenever there will be a discussion on Truth Of Gujarat..Finally they sacked you by hatching a conspiracy..Nation lost a service of an honest officer..," says one of his admirers.

"Increase Respect For You ...You prove still Honesty & Truth in India," another message says.

"A new low for a government with communal agenda that involves massacres and new milestone for an officer who stood upright in face of adversity," is another comment expressing solidarity with Bhatt.

"From the LAL QUILA on 15th August Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech coined a word INDIA STAND UP, today really INDIA STAND UP with Hero of the Nation," says another post.

"Sir We are with you. One fine everyone realizes the truth," is what a person says.

"Salute for the true hero of India: Sanjiv Bhatt, an honest IPS officer who took on Narendra Modi for Gujarat riots 2002 was sacked yesterday. So much so being honest in India..." another post with a photograph of Bhatt in uniform says.

Earlier, in a Facebook post and in tweets, the IPS officer said he had been  removed on the basis of a "sham inquiry and fabricated charges."

"Finally removed from service today after serving 27 years in the Indian Police Service. Once again eligible for employment. :) Any takers?", he tweeted on Wednesday night.
