New Delhi/UNI: Pacifying the Opposition Members in the Lok Sabha, who were pressing for a separate debate on the issue of farmers' for the past four days, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday appealed to them to hold discussion on Motion of Thanks on the President's address.

Singh said a healthy democracy tradition should not be broken.

As soon as the House reassembled after the first adjournment at 1700 hrs, the Papers were laid on the table.

Soon after the papers were laid, while making a brief intervention, the Defence Minister said the Rajya Sabha has already debated on the President's address and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has replied to that debate.

The Defence Minister appealed to the Members that this healthy tradition of democracy should be maintained and debate on the President's address should continue.

"You can speak on the Farm Bills during the debate on the President's address," Singh said.

In response to the Defence Minister's appeal, Congress Floor Leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury raised the issue of the ongoing farmers' protest and said, "We just want that there should be a separate debate on the farmers' issue for 2-4 hours after the President's address."

"We will continue to demand a separate discussion on the issue of farmers'," he added.

After that, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla thanked the Defence Minister for making the request on behalf of the Government.

Following the request of Singh, discussion resumed on the Motion of Thanks on the President's address to the Lok Sabha.
