Rajasthan bans sale and bursting of firecrackers in Diwali to protect Covid-19 patients
Jaipur/IBNS: In a significant step to protect the Covid-19 patients, the Rajasthan government on Monday banned the sale and bursting of firecrackers in the state prioritising the lives of people in the ongoing festive season of the multicultural Asian country.
In a series of tweets, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the banning of temporary licenses for the sale of firecrackers in festival Diwali, which is set to be celebrated in mid-November this year.
The bursting of firecrackers has also been banned in marriage and other functions.
Gehlot tweeted, "State govt has taken the decision to ban the sale and bursting of firecrackers in order to protect the health of Covid-19 infected patients and public from poisonous smoke emanating due to fireworks. In this challenging corona pandemic time,protecting the lives of people is paramount for the government."
He added, "The poisonous smoke emanating from fireworks is a health hazard for Covid-19 patients as well as those suffering from heart ailments and breathing problems. In such a situation, people should avoid fireworks during Diwali."

In another step, the Gehlot government is set to make wearing facemasks mandatory to prevent the spread of the virus by formulating a law in the state assembly.
"Rajasthan is set to become the first state to make wearing facemasks mandatory because masks can only protect people from the disease. Alongside the ongoing campaign, the government is set to make it mandatory to wear facemasks," said the CM in a tweet.
