Rahul downplays reports of rift within his party
Amethi, Sept 4 (IBNS): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday downplayed reports of any rift within the party even as the media buzz suggests so.
"Congress is an old organisation. There will be many voices in the party. We will deal with such tensions," said Rahul during a visit to his constituency Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
This comes after senior Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi and Digvijaya Singh made remarks about prescribing an age limit for holding active posts in the party and suggested that Rahul should be seen more active in politics.
However, the young leaders, backing Rahul, reportedly met Dwivedi, asking him to refrain senior leaders from making statements against the Gandhi scion in public.
