President of India Kovind in Cuba, pays tributes to National Heroes of Cuba to address students at University of Havana

New Delhi, June 22 (IBNS): President of India Ram Nath Kovind reached Santiago de Cuba, Cuba yesterday (June 21, 2018) on the last leg of his 3 - nation State Visit to – Greece, Suriname and Cuba. 

In Santiago de Cuba, he visited the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery to pay his tributes to national heroes of Cuba – Jose Marti, Fidel Castro, Carlos Manuel de Cespedes and Mariana Grajales, officials said.

Subsequently, the President landed in Havana on the same day.

Today (June 22, 2018), the President commenced his engagements with paying his tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Havana. 

Later in the day, the President will be accorded ceremonial welcome at the Revolution Palace. 

Thereafter, he will meet his counterpart President Miguel Díaz-Canel and lead the delegation level talks with Cuba. 

The two sides are expected to sign two MoUs – one on Traditional Medicine and Homeopathy and second on Biotechnology.

Later today, the President will address the students of Havana University before leaving for New Delhi.
