Itanagar, Aug 21 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on the latter's 39th birthday on Tuesday.

In a tweet, Modi said: "Best wishes to Arunachal Pradesh’s young and dynamic CM, Shri @PemaKhanduBJP. He is at the forefront of taking the state to new heights of progress. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life."

Khandu, who is now a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member, became the Chief Minister in 2016.

He succeeded Congress' Nabam Tuki.

After becoming the Chief Minister in 2016, Khandu changed his party two times.

Originally a Congress man, Khandu became the member of the Peoples Party of Arunachal in Sept, 2016.

In December of the same year, Khandu had joined the BJP.

He was also a Minister in Tuki's government.
