New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated Britain's Conservative leader Boris Johnson for winning the UK elections.

Modi tweeted, "Many congratulations to PM @BorisJohnson for his return with a thumping majority. I wish him the best and look forward to working together for closer India-UK ties."

Johnson is set to be back as the UK Prime Minister as the Conservative Party decimate the Labour Party by winning a big majority.

The Conservatives are set to get 363 MPs as opposed to the Labour Party's 203, as per last reports.

The SNP got 48, Lib Dems 12.

The UK citizens cast ballots on Thursday in a crucial general election, with Brexit and the National Health Service at the top of their concerns.
