Piyush Goyal calls Rahul Gandhi 'merchant of hate' hitting out over Alwar lynching

New Delhi, July 23 (IBNS): Hitting out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Alwar lynching incident, which claimed a life, Union Minister Piyush Goyal has referred to the Congress chief as a "merchant of hate".

Goyal tweeted, "Stop jumping with joy every time a crime happens, Mr Rahul Gandhi. The state has already assured strict & prompt action. You divide the society in every manner possible for electoral gains & then shed crocodile tears. Enough is Enough. You are a MERCHANT OF HATE."

In the wake of reports of the cops' alleged foul play leading to the death of Rakbar Khan, who was lynched on suspicion over cow-smuggling in Rajasthan's Alwar, Rahul on Monday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "New India".

In a tweet, Rahul said: "Policemen in #Alwar took 3 hrs to get a dying Rakbar Khan, the victim of a lynch mob, to a hospital just 6 KM away. Why? They took a tea-break enroute. This is Modi’s brutal “New India” where humanity is replaced with hatred and people are crushed and left to die."

Reports said two men were taking a couple of cows from their native Kolganv village in Haryana to Ramgarh, when the incident took place last week.

Rakbar Khan, one of the victims, had reportedly died to the cops' alleged foul play.

According to NDTV, police kept Rakbar in their custody for more than three hours before taking him to a hospital.

The policemen first arranged to ferry the cow and then went to have refreshments, the report said.

Though Rakbar was complaining of pain, the policemen were having tea from a nearby stall, it said.

When the victim was taken to a hospital finally, he was declared dead on arrival.

Naval Kishore, a right-wing supporter, who had called up police first after the lynching incident, told media that police had initially taken Rakbar into custody where the victim was beaten to death.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government has ordered a high-level probe into the case.
