Pawan Hans chopper crashes off Mumbai coast, 2 pilots missing
Mumbai, Nov 4 (IBNS): Two pilots have gone missing after a Pawan Hans helicopter crashed off the coast of Mumbai on Wednesday evening.
The chopper reportedly crashed at around 7:30 pm.
The accident happened while carrying out night landing practice at Bombay High.
"Pawan hans Heptr crashes in Bombay High while carrying out night landing practice on an oil rig," Ministry of Defence spokesperson Sitanshu Kar tweed.
Following the crash, the Indian navy has launched a rescue operation.
"Two pilots reported missing. Full scale SAR launched by Indian Navy," Kar posted.
Two Immediate Support Vessels - ISVS T50 and T48 - have reached the area where the accident took place.
"Destroyer INS Mumbai despatched to the area. Two minor war vessels of IN already in area looking for survivors, " he said.
