Islamabad, Aug 26 (IBNS) Amid political turmoil in Pakistan, country's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, media reports said.

"During the meeting it was decided that the present crisis should be resolved with national interest in mind," Geo News reported.

"The ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb and other security matters were also discussed between the prime minister and army chief," the Pakistani news channel reported.

Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Allama Tahirul Qadri on Monday gave a 48 hours deadline to the Pakistani government to  wrap up assemblies.

Demanding Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's resignation, protesters led by Pakistan's cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan and cleric Tahir ul-Qadri are demonstrating in Islamabad for the past few days now.
