Odisha: Security personnel seize huge quantity of articles following an exchange of fire with Maoists

Bhubaneswar/UNI: Security personnel deployed in anti-Naxal operation have seized a huge quantity of articles including arms and weapons following an exchange of fire with the Naxals near Goegurha-Uttamgurha village under Mudulipada Police station in Maoist affected Malkangiri District.

Odisha Director General of Police office sources here today said that police seized the articles following the exchange of fire on January 15 last.

Police sources said on getting information about the movement of 15-20 armed cadres of Maoists in Goegurha-Uttamgurha District, Police launched an anti-Maoist Operation led by Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Rishidesh D. Khillari, and SDPO Prahallad Sahai Meena, with a team of 27 Commandos of District Voluntary Force. They were supported by SOG and BSF.

On the evening of January 15 last while they were conducting combing and search operation in the area, suddenly unprovoked firing came from CPI (Maoist) side.

In retaliation security personnel also fired back. But, taking advantage of darkness and jungle terrain, Maoists managed to escape from the spot, leaving behind their belongings and articles.

Police sources said, an AK-47 , 10 detonators, two bundles of electric wire, a flash camera , two power bank, electric extension cord, two electric bike remote, one battery solar panel, a radio, Naxal uniform, one tool kit, solar panel, one head light, two man pack charger stand, a man pack battery, three mobile charger, literatures, medicines and injections, blanket, mosquito net, winter shawl, torch, kit bags, CPI(M) banner and flag, shoes, utensils, dry ration, vegetable and jacket from the spot.

Mudulipada Police station has registered case in this regard.

Police sources said the seizure points to the fact that the outlawed banned CPI (Maoist) organization is trying to wage war against the state by attacking the security forces and warned that such attempt would be dealt through action as per law.

An intensive combing and search operations are being carried out as follow-up.

It said, combing operation will be continued along with focus on the developmental initiatives in this area.
