New Delhi, July  2 (IBNS): Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, condoled the loss of lives in the blast which rocked Afghanistan's  Jalalabad area on Sunday.

Modi described the incident as an attack on 'Afghanistan's multicultural fabric'.

The Indian PM tweeted: "We strongly condemn the terror attacks in Afghanistan yesterday. They are an attack on Afghanistan's multicultural fabric. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I pray that the injured recover soon. India stands ready to assist the Afghanistan government in this sad hour."

Nineteen people, including 17 Sikh minority members, were confirmed dead and another 21 including seven Sikhs were injured as a blast hit Afghanistani city on Sunday at around 3:50pm.

The blast was reportedly targeting a vehicle carrying minority community members.

Apart from Modi, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also condoled the loss of lives in the blast.

"My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the terror attack in Jalalabad city of Afghanistan. We are with them in this hour of tragedy. I am meeting their relatives today at 6 pm in JN Bhavan," she tweeted.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.

The bombing is coinciding with country's President Ashraf Ghani's two-day trip to Nangarhar.
