Mysuru: Six held, 5.68 lakh gold seized

Mysuru/UNI: Six people were held and 117 grams of gold jewellery and two vehicles, worth Rs 5.68 lakh, were seized from them, police said on Sunday.

The arrested have been identified as Manjunath alias Kareema (23), resident of Mahadeshwara Layout in city, Manju(50), of Kumbarakoppal, Sridhar (35), a resident of K R Mohalla, Imran Pasha, (38), a resident of Bannur town, Narayan (45),resident of Metagalli and Puttaraju (45), a resident of Saraswathipuram.

Acting on a tip-off, the police took the six into custody when they were plotting to commit dacoity near Handihalla Circle located on the road leading from Highway Circle to Ideal Jawa factory.

During interrogation, they confessed to have mugged people in Bannur and Mysuru South Police Station limits and also lifted vehicles, police further said.

Following the confession, 117 gm gold jewellery was seized.

Further investigation was underway, police added.
