My mother is Indian more than many in the country: Rahul Gandhi

| @indiablooms | May 10, 2018, at 06:35 pm

Bengaluru, May 10 (IBNS): Congress president Rahul Gandhi has said his mother Sonia Gandhi, who is an Italian by birth, is an Indian more than many in the country, while countering Prime Minister Narendra Modi's sarcastic reference to Sonia's native language.

Modi, during his election campaign, had said Rahul Gandhi can discuss over Karnataka poll in his mother's language.

Reacting to Modi's comment, the Congress president said on Thursday, "My mother is an Indian more than many in the country. She has spent major part of her life in India. She has sacrificed for the country."

Rahul made the comment while addressing a press conference on the last day of Karnataka campaign.

Reacting to the personal attacks by Modi during the election campaigns, Rahul said: "Modi has anger against me which is his problem. It is not my problem."

The Karnataka assembly poll is scheduled to begin on May 12.

The poll results will come out on May 15.
