Mumbai shopkeeper attacked with sword, saved by customer, shows CCTV
Mumbai, Aug 13 (IBNS) A Mumbai shopkeeper, who is physically challenged, was attacked with a sword inside his shop by an extortionist but a customer visiting his shop saved him playing the role of a braveheart, said media reports on Thursday, based on CCTV footage of the incident.
According to a Mid-day report, Rajnish Singh Thakur was attacked on Tuesday night because he had raised an alarm by way of postering against druggies who would extort as many as 200 shopkeepers in Chembur area.
On Tuesday night Thakur was attacked with a sword by one of the extortionists. The attack was caught on CCTV camera.
However, Thakur was saved because another visitor to the shop overpowered the assailant. Nasruddin Khudabaksh Mansuri, a 50-year-old tailor, was in the shop to buy a mobile phone when he came to the rescue of the shopkeeper. He also kept the man pinned down till police came and arrested him.
Thakur was in hospital and under ICU supervision.
Police later arrested five men of the gang.
