Massive chaos at Delhi airport! All flights delayed after major technical glitch throws operations into disarray

New Delhi/IBNS: Over a hundred flights were delayed at the Delhi airport on Friday morning due to a technical issue in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system leading up to a widespread chaos, media reports said.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) posted on X, "Flight operations at Delhi Airport are experiencing delays due to a technical issue in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), which supports Air Traffic Control data.

"Controllers are processing flight plans manually, leading to some delays. Technical teams are working to restore the system at the earliest. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all passengers and stakeholders."

The authorities have asked passengers to keep in touch with the airlines for new updates.

Air India posted on X, "A technical issue with the ATC system in Delhi is impacting flight operations across all airlines, leading to delays and longer wait times at the airport and onboard aircraft. We regret the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen disruption, which is beyond our control, and appreciate your patience.

"Our cabin crew and on-ground staff at the airport are extending immediate assistance to reduce passenger inconvenience."

A day ago, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi faced its first-ever instances of GPS spoofing, leading to widespread disruption of flight operations for nearly a week.

The issue has been particularly severe during easterly wind conditions, which have forced aircraft to approach from the Dwarka side and depart toward Vasant Kunj, creating congestion, delays, and multiple diversions.
