Mamata Banerjee condemns Manchester attack

Kolkata, May 23 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday condemned the explosion in Manchester city of the UK which killed at least 22 people.

Banerjee tweeted: "Saddened with the sad news about innocent lives lost #ManchesterBlast These terror attacks are acts of cowards."

At least 22 people, including children, were killed in a deadly explosion at Manchester Arena in the UK at the end of a pop  concert by the US singer Ariana Grande.

CER,Officials said at least 59 people were wounded in the suspected terror strike on Monday night at the Manchester Arena.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Theresa May has postponed her campaigning for the general elections and will chair a meeting of Cobra committee later, the BBC reported.

"All our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those who have been affected," May was quoted as saying in the media.

Following the attack, the area was cordoned off, thereby disrupting train services.
