Maharashtra: Man gets 3-yr RI in molestation case

Thane, Oct 19 (UNI) A man from the powerloom town of Bhiwandi has been sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 1,000 fine by the district court, for molesting a child.

The accused, identified as Irfan Iqbal Momim (30), was found guilty under the POCSO Act of 2012 and Section 354 (b) of IPC.

Appearing for the prosecution, Additional Public Prosecutor Ujjwala Moholkar told the court on Friday that the survivor, then aged five, was a neighbour of the accused.


On December 24, 2013, at around 0800 hrs, the accused called the girl to his house, touched her inappropriately and also stripped her naked, said Moholkar.
