Mah CM Uddhav Thackeray stresses on time-bound completion of tribal-related projects
Thane/UNI: Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered a time-bound approach for the completion of projects, related to the tribals of the state, Shramajivi Sanghatana, an organisation working for the upliftment of tribals across Maharashtra, said here on Wednesday.
Members of the orgnisation recently met Mr Thackeray and discussed their long-pending demands with him.
Under the banner of the Sanghatana, thousands of tribals from the state took out a march, after which a memorandum was submitted to Collector Rajesh Narvekar.
Subsequently, Sanghatana Founder and former MLA Vivek Pandit met the CM and submitted a written account of the grievances, in presence of Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde.
The prominent issues raised by the tribals include forest rights, caste proofs, health and education facilities, employment oppertunities among other basic amenities.
The Sanghatana declared that the CM has asked the secretaries of different departments to co-ordinate and agree on a time-bound programme, to resolve the long-pending issues.
The CM also agreed to ensure basic rights of the tribals by 2022, and categorically asked concerned officials to take a practical approach, while giving the caste certificate and not insist on seeking proof, prior to 1950.
Mr Pandit stated his intention of pursuing to the matter till the promises of the government were fulfilled.
"No doubt the CM has given specific directions, but we will play the role of watchdog. If things do not move, we will surely take recourse to the agitation," he added.
