Lucknow: Shias protest Azam decision to sell Waqf properties
Lucknow, July 25 (IBNS): Violent clashes erupted in the Lucknow city of Uttar Pradesh on Friday as the Shia Muslim Community resorted to protest over state Minister Azam Khan's decision to sell properties of Waqf board.
Shia protesters marched towards UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's house after SP leader Azam Khan decided to sell properties of Waqf Board and appoint Waseem Akram as the member of the board.
Shia community leader Kalbe Javed led the protest.
As the group tried to march towards the Chief Minister's house, they were stopped by the police, who resorted to lathicharge to control the agitators.
