Nagpur/IBNS: A woman married to an Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel has accused a former classmate and his associates of rape, blackmail, extortion, black magic and forced religious conversion in a case that has triggered a major police investigation in Nagpur.

Police have arrested two accused, identified as Ayaaz Madare and Ameen Shaikh, while search operations are underway to trace a cleric allegedly linked to the alleged conversion ritual.

Authorities have also launched a forensic examination of electronic evidence collected during the investigation.

Woman alleges drink was spiked

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the 24-year-old complainant alleged that Ayaaz Madare spiked her drink during a meeting at a hotel on February 8, 2025.

The woman claimed that when she regained consciousness, she discovered that objectionable photographs and videos of her had allegedly been recorded.

She alleged that the accused later used the material to blackmail her, threatening to share it with her husband and circulate it on social media.

The FIR states that the accused allegedly subjected her to repeated sexual assault and extorted nearly Rs 4 lakh over a period of time.

Viral video becomes crucial evidence

A video that has circulated widely on social media has emerged as significant evidence in the case.

In the footage, the woman is seen crying and pleading, saying, “Chhodo mujhe” (Let me go), while a man identified by police as Ayaaz Madare allegedly restrains her hands.

The video reportedly shows him reciting religious verses and repeatedly blowing over her as she struggles to free herself.

The complainant alleged that following the incident, she was told that she had been religiously converted against her will and that an attempt was made to assault her sexually.

She further claimed that the accused frequently forced her to consume a liquid from a plastic bottle before reciting words in Urdu and blowing on her face.

According to her complaint, he described the acts as “hypnosis and black magic” before allegedly sexually assaulting her.

Allegations of forced conversion and nikah

The woman also alleged that on May 31, she was forcibly taken to Kalmeshwar by Madare and another associate.

According to the complaint, a cleric identified as Hazrat Maulana from Tamia village in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district conducted religious rituals and allegedly compelled her to say “qubool hai” against her wishes.

She claimed that after the ceremony, the cleric declared that she had converted to Islam and that a nikah had been performed between her and Madare.

The complainant further alleged that she was forced to consume meat and recite religious verses. She stated that she was later taken to a hotel where she was allegedly raped again.

The FIR also alleges that the accused continued visiting her residence and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.

Police invoke multiple charges

Nagpur Police have registered offences under various provisions, including charges related to rape, repeated sexual assault, extortion, criminal intimidation, blackmail and forced religious conversion.

Authorities have also invoked provisions of Maharashtra’s anti-black magic law as part of the investigation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Suresh Reddy said, “In her complaint, the woman has alleged rape, extortion, conversion, and black magic.

Electronic devices seized are being forensically analysed. This evidence will be very crucial.”

He added, “A police team has gone to another state to search for the maulana who performed the conversion. A thorough investigation is underway.”

Investigation continues

Police officials said forensic analysis of seized electronic devices is expected to play a key role in establishing the sequence of events and verifying the allegations made in the complaint.

Investigators are continuing to collect evidence and trace other individuals named in the FIR as the probe progresses.
