Kolkata, Oct 7(UNI) The organisers of a Durga Puja in the city sparked controversy, after a video showing Azaan being played in the puja pandal went viral.

According to reports, a lawyer Santanu Singha filed a complaint with the police against the organisers of Beliaghata 33 Pally for playing  Azaan(Muslim call of prayer to the faithful) in the puja pandal with the intention to hurt the sentiments of the Hindus and disrupt peace and tranquility in West Bengal.

In his complaint Singha has named ten people, including the secretary of the club that organised the Puja.

On the other hand, the organisers have rejected the accusations and have alleged that the issue is being politicised unnecessarily.

They said that the theme 'Amra Ek, Eka Noye'( We Are One, Not Alone) is chosen to promote communal harmony and peace among all religions, and the models of mosque, temple and church with sound effects have been used to demonstrate the theme.
