Kolkata, Jan 6 (IBNS): A Kavi Subhash bound metro train in Kolkata started running on Tuesday when a passenger's foot was stuck outside the compartment of the train, reports said on Wednesday.

According to reports, one young girl was going to Central Metro Station with her mother.

As she was boarding a Kavi Subhash bound train from Dumdum Metro Station, the sliding doors closed while her foot got stuck between the doors, reports said.

A passenger pulled the alarm and the train was stopped before it entered the tunnel.

The girl, however, remained unhurt.

Kolkata Metro Rail's Public Relation Officer (PRO) Indrani Banerjee told IBNS, "When we examine CCTV footage, we notice that many passengers try to get into the compartment when the sliding doors have started closing. To avoid such accidents, passengers have to be alert and patient."

Earlier on Dec 17, an escalator at Girish Park metro station started malfunctioning and began moving in reverse direction which left at least eight passengers injured.
