Kolkata/IBNS: A teacher of a Kolkata law college resigned after she was allegedly asked to refrain from wearing hijab while taking classes, prompting the educational institution to issue a clarification, media reports said.

Sanjida Qadar, who was the teacher at LJD Law College affiliated to the University of Calcutta, alleged the college order "offended" her "values and religious sentiments".

Qadar, who has been wearing hijab from March-April this year, stopped taking college from June 5, a few days after the order was reportedly issued.

In a clarification, the college said no such order was issued and it was a "miscommunication".

The institution has also requested the teacher to resume taking classes.

However, Qadar is reluctant to resume taking her classes.
