Kolkata: Jadavpur University student found dead at main hostel

Kolkata, Dec 4 (IBNS): An MA (Philosophy) second year student of Kolkata's Jadavpur University (JU) was found dead on Sunday in his hostel room inside the university campus, reports said.

According to reports, the student, who has been identified as Soumitra Dey, was recovered hanging from JU Main Hostel's B-Block's room 9 in the morning.

The student was a resident of Chhatna in West Bengal's Bankura district, university sources said.

After being informed, registrar and vice-chancellor of the university visited the hostel in the noon.

Police have started an investigation into the matter.

The student's body has been sent for post mortem, officials said.
