Kashmiri Pandits observe 'Martyrs Day' to mark killing of Tika Lal Taploo
Srinagar: The Kashmiri Pandits on Monday observed 'September 14' as 'Martyrs Day' to mark the killing of leader Tika Lal Taploo.
Tika Lal Taploo was one of the top Kashmiri Pandit leaders.
He was shot dead on Sept 14, 1989, outside his residence.
This was the first major killing of a Kashmiri Pandit leader in the Valley which eventually led to the exodus in 1990.
Kashmiri Pandit Association of Europe tweeted: "Kashmiri Pandits across the globe are observing Martyrs Day. Today in 1989 our leader #TikalalTaploo was shot dead by Pakistani Jihadi terrorists and from here began endless atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits which continues till date. It is not forgotten and will never be."

On Jan 19, 1990, Kashmiri Pandits were forced to leave their land following a bloody campaign launched by Pakistan-supported terrorists to ethnically cleanse the Valley.
Despite being ruthlessly ousted from their homeland, Kashmiri Pandits have persistently yet peacefully demanded attention from the governments at the Centre to reclaim their rightful place in the Valley.
