Kashmir: Mir Junaid visits Handwara fire scene, appeals for compensation

Jammu Kashmir Workers Party president Mir Junaid on Monday visited the victims of the Handwara fire incident, which occurred on Sunday, and took stock of the losses. 

Junaid consoled the suffering families and called upon the DC Kupwara, Imam Din Sahab, who assured him that every effort is being to rehabilitate the victims of the incident.

The major fire on Sunday late night destroyed several vegetable carts at a vegetable market in Handwara town in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Mir Junaid assured the victims that he will assure that they are compensated adequately by the Government and he also appealed to the  Lieutenant Governor  Manoj Sinha requesting him to immediately release an interim amount of Rs 50,000 per family as their compensation for the loss. 

Mir also took stock of the problems that the common people were facing in the area and met various delegations of people. While talking to the civil society members, Mir asked them to play their role in the battle against Covid- 19 by encouraging vaccination among the masses and strictly following the SOPs.
