Jat unrest: H'yana CM Khattar heckled

| | Feb 23, 2016, at 07:12 pm
Chandigarh, Feb 23 (IBNS) Angry people protested and heckled Haryana CM Mahonar Lal Khattar as he hosted an impromptu press conference earlier today.

Demanding strict action, protesters complained about police inactivity and the loss they incurred in the week long agitation.

An angry protester said, "Our shops were looted and torched while the curfew was on and the police did nothing. This is a massive failure on the government's part."

Khattar tried pacifying the crowd by saying that action will be taken against the goons and the inactive policemen.

He also promised that the demands of the Jat leaders will be met.

Earlier the protests had waned but an overnight rise saw another two person die, taking the death toll to 18. At least 200 people have sustained injuries in the same clash.

The statewide shutdown also affected the industry as a loss of Rs 34,000 crore have been incurred so far.
