Indian origin cab driver attacked in Australia, receives racist comment

Canberra, May 22 (IBNS): Indian origin cab driver was attacked in an island state of South coast of Australia, Tasmania, by a couple after warning the latter for ruining the cab on Saturday night, which has raised once again the issue of racist attack on Indians abroad that was witnessed multiple times in the recent past, media reports.

Pardeep Singh (25) picked up a couple around 10.30 at night and in the course of the journey the woman was said to be opening the door and throw up for which Singh had warned her about the possible accidents, and also told her that she would have to clean up the car if messes.

At Sandy Bay McDonald's drive, Singh was attacked and kicked by the husband on the road who also said referring to him, "You f*****g Indian, you deserve it", while some pedestrians rescued him and helped him to get to the hospital.

Reports suggest that the couple was charged for the assault.

Singh, who is a hospitality student in Australia said that he would not drive his cab again, following the assault he had received.

In late March, an Indian man was assaulted by a group of teenagers in Melbourne who had also hurled racial attacks on him, one of the recent racist attacks faced by Indians abroad.

The racist attack on Indians is not restricted to only Australia but also happened in the US and Kansas shooting was one of them.
