India will never cow down to terror: Indian Ambassador in Afghanistan after rocket lands inside residence compound

Kabul, June 6 (IBNS) : As the residence of the Indian ambassador in Afghanistan survived a major attack on Tuesday after a rocked landed inside the compound, but no one was injured, the envoy said India will never be cowed down by terror.

In an exclusive conversation with the Indian Express, Ambassador Manpreet Vohra said, “A rocket landed in the India House compound at 10:25 am. There were no casualties. Investigations are ongoing."

“India has dealt with terror and will never be cowed down by it," Vohra said.

The rocket landed and exploded on the tennis court inside the compound when Vohra  was at the Kabul Process meeting,  which aims at getting the peace process back on track in Afghanistan.

India House is a highly guarded and fortified compound and is close to several embassies and NATO's 'Resolute Support' Headquarters.

The attack on the Indian ambassador’s residence comes less than a week after a truck blew up at the entrance to the Green Zone – inside which the Indian embassy as well as India House is located. About 150 people were killed in the incident.

India House is a highly guarded and fortified compound and is close to several embassies and NATO's 'Resolute Support' Headquarters.

Opening the Kabul Process meeting,  Afghan president Ashraf Ghani has doubled the number of those killed in last week's sewage truck blast to 150. That makes the attack the bloodiest one in Kabul since the Taliban were overthrown in 2001.

The Kabul Peace Conference initiated by Afghanistan is trying to build a regional and international consensus on security and the fight against terrorism.
