Aligarh, Dec 19 (IBNS): A fringe Hindu group has asked schools in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh city, where Hindu students are in majority, not to celebrate Christmas.

According to reports, the Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM) has sent letters to schools over the issue.

As reported by Hindustan Times, HJM leaders claimed: “We have sent letters to all schools asking them not to organise Christmas celebrations on the campuses. The school managements may treat it as a request or warning.”

HJM city president Sonu Savita, convenor Amit Raja, city secretary Punit Sharma and district vice-president Rajesh Pandit told the newspaper: “All schools will receive letters for not organising any event on Christmas.”

Christmas will be celebrated on Dec 25.
