Hathras/UNI: Two days after a man was shot dead for a complaint against her daughter's harassment, police announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on the main accused Gaurav Songra in the Nojalpur village in the Sasni area here on Wednesday.

According to the police, rewards of Rs 25,000 each have also been announced on the other two accused. So far, one accused has been arrested in the case.

Last Monday, a farmer had been shot dead in broad daylight while he was working in his field. Nearly two-and-half years back, the farmer had registered a case against Gaurav for entering his house harassing his daughter. The accused had allegedly been forcing the farmer to marry his youngest daughter to him and withdraw the case.

The deceased's daughter has furnished a written complaint against six people, including four identified persons based on which the police filed a case and arrested one accused. Search is underway for the other accused.

The anguished family of the farmer had refused to carry out his last rites till the accused were arrested. The officials, somehow, pacified them after which they agreed.

The Chief Minister has ordered action under the NSA against all the accused.
