Hardcore NSCN-K militant nab in Nagaland

Guwahati, Nov 3 (IBNS): The troops of Assam Rifles apprehended a hardcore militant of NSCN-K along with arms and ammunition in Nagaland's Zunheboto district on Thursday, officials said on Friday.

PRO of the IG of Assam Riles (North) Lt. Col Amitabh Sharma said that following intelligence input about presence of militants, the 5 Assam Rifles under the supervision of HQ IGAR (North) had launched operation at Hekiye village in Zunheboto district.

"During the operation, the troops nabbed a NSCN-K militant identified as one Self-styled finance secretary hailing from Aichisaghemi area in Zunheboto District," Lt. Col Sharma said.

During the preliminary interrogation, the nabbed militant revealed that he had joined NSCN-K in 2008 and involved in extortion in the areas of Zunheboto.

Security personnel had recovered one rifle, several rounds live ammunition in possession from him.

Later the nabbed militant along with recoveries items was handed over Zunheboto police station for further investigation.
