Hardcore NDFB(S) militant apprehended in Chirang

Guwahati, Aug 19 (IBNS) : A hardcore militant belonging to NDFB(S) was apprehended by security forces from Assam's Chirang district on Tuesday, police said on Wednesday.

BTAD IGP LR Bisnoi said that based on intelligence input the police and the CRPF had jointly launched operation at Patabari area under Amguri police station in the BTAD district and nabbed the militant.

"The militant joined the outfit group in 2012 and belonging to the 37th batch. He is suspected to be involved in the Lungsung adivasi massacre in December last year, " Bisnoi said.

Security forces recovered one HE grenade from him.
