Vadodra, July 31 (IBNS): In an attempt to lodge protest over a Hindu-Muslim elopement, members of the woman's family has set vehicles ablaze and stole ornaments from the house of the man, media reports said on Monday.

The Hindu man and the Muslim woman eloped from their homes on July 29.

This prompted the woman's family to demonstrate their displeasure against the interfaith elopement.

According to reports, on Saturday, members of the woman's family and several from her community stormed into the man’s house in Sanjeli village in Dahod district of Gujarat.

In his complaint, the man's father, Prakash Bhoi, alleged that the mob comprised at least 200 people, armed with sticks and weapons. They set ablaze a multi-utility vehicle.

Following the complaint, four people have been arrested.

The woman’s family had also staged a hunger strike outside the Sanjeli police station on July 22.

They had called off the strike only after they were given assurance that police would look into the matter.
