Mourning his demise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Group Captain Varun Singh served the nation with pride, valour and utmost professionalism. I am extremely anguished by his passing away. His rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti."

A tri service enquiry regarding the crash, that killed all 14 co-passengers, has been ordered by the IAF, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said last Thursday.

The enquiry will be headed by Air Marshal Manvendra Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Training Command, said Singh in Parliament.
