Govt's no to proposal for charge on check-in baggage in low-cost carriers

New Delhi, June 27 (IBNS) In a major relief for fliers, the Aviation Ministry on Saturday rejected proposal by low-cost airlines to charge for check-in baggage.

Reports quotd Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma as saying that the government does not want to  put extra burden on passengers.

While providing discount to passengers having no check in luggage, low-cost carriers like AirAsia, Indigo and SpiceJet had made an appeal with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to charge Rs 250 for the first luggage, Rs 500 for the second and Rs 1500 for the third.
