Govt begins process for 'evacuation of Indian nationals' from Hubei province in China

New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) The Government of India has begun the process to prepare for 'evacuation of Indian nationals' affected by the situation arising out of Novel Coronavirus outbreak in Hubei Province in China.

"We have begun the process to prepare for evacuation of Indian nationals affected by the situation arising out of nCorona-2019 virus outbreak in Hubei Province, China," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

He further said: "Our Embassy in Beijing is working out the logistics and is in touch with the Chinese government authorities and our nationals on this matter."

MEA spokesman also said - "We will continue to share updates".

At a high level meeting chaired by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Monday, it was decided that the government of India will take all necessary steps to prepare for possible evacuation of Indian nationals in Wuhan.

Accordingly, Ministry of External Affairs will make a request to the Chinese authorities, it was stated.

Health Ministry also held a review meeting earlier on Monday with Chief Secretaries to review the preparedness and screening in five states having border with Nepal.

"They have been asked to ensure that community level monitoring of passengers is undertaken through health staff," a statement from PMO has said.
