Srinagar: In a major boost to the local industrial sector, the first geyser tank plant will be set up in Ompora area of Budgam district.

It will resume its operations within two weeks.

Talking to Rising Kashmir, owner of Hisense Industries, Mohammad Maqbool said it is one of the major achievement for the local industry as earlier the geyser tankers were imported from outside Kashmir.

“We were already in the geyser manufacturing business and were using most of the material importing from other states of India. Now, this plant will be a relief for the locals,” he said.

Maqbool claimed that it is the first geyser tanks manufacturing unit in the valley and it will play a pivotal role to boost the local trade here.

“The project is in the final stage and will be completed with the next two weeks,” he said.

As per Maqbool, although the government has allotted land to some people for geyser manufacturing unit but they are yet to establish their plants.

“I have constructed the plant on my own land rather than depending on the government allotment,” he said.

Maqbool said they have also a manufacturing unit at Chinar Colony Ompora which was set up in 2017.

He said the project was completed with the help of Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch Ompora and they have always boosted our business.

“We are manufacturing two geysers brands at this time one is Blue Bird and Inara. Apart from that, we are also taking orders from other companies also,” he said.

Maqbool said there is a huge difference between outside and their brands and claimed that they do not compromise on their quality and work.

“We are getting inquires from neighbouring countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan and several states of India but we only supply our product to the valley," he said.

Maqbool said there are around nine staffers who are working in the unit.

"It boosts local employment in the area. We will be hiring more as our geyser tank unit would be started," he said.

“On average, we manufacture around 6000 units per season excluding orders from other local companies. After the geyser tank unit will be started, it will boost more production,” he said.
