Fire breaks out in Kolkata bank, no casualties

Kolkata, Jun 4 (IBNS): A major fire broke out at a branch of a nationalized bank in Kolkata's M.G. Road area on Sunday, reports said.

According to reports, the incident took place at Syndicate Bank's Burrabazar branch in late evening.

As many as six fire tender engines and police rushed to the scene and firemen fought for hours to bring the massive blaze under control.

After preliminary enquiry, fire officials said that bank's computer room was the centre of the fire.

Fire department and police have started probe into the matter while the exact reason behind the fire has not been known so far.

However, no casualty was reported in the incident while several important documents and computers were gutted due to the fire, officials said.
