Espionage case: NIA arrests Sri Lankan national

New Delhi, Sept 10 (IBNS) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday said it has arrested a Sri Lankan national in connection with an alleged espionage case.

The arrested Sri Lankan national was identified as  Arun Selvarajan.

"Today i.e., 10.09.2014 the National Investigation Agency arrested one Arun Selvarajan, a Sri Lankan  National for his involvement in RC.No.03/2013/NIA/Hyderabad (Thameem Ansari Case), who has been indulging in espionage activities  at  the instigation of  a neighbouring country. He is found in possession of two passports i.e., from Sri Lanka
and India," the NIA said in a statement.

"He is learnt to have gained access to certain vital installations  in the  guise of  managing events. He was passing on  information  using  internet communication  tools. Incriminating evidence has been seized  from him which is under scrutiny. He also has criminal cases pending in  Sri Lanka against him along with a look out circular," it said.
