New Delhi, Sept 14 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Friday said former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientist Nambi Narayanan was unnecessarily arrested and harassed by the Kerala police in connection with an espionage case, media reports said.

The top court also awarded Rs. 50 lakh to Narayanan as a compensation.

He had pleaded against the cops who framed him in the case.

Narayanan, then scientist, was arrested on Nov 30, 1994, on allegations of espionage.

He was later exonerated by the apex court.
