New Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi government has allowed home delivery of liquor under the amended excise rules.

However, only those with an L-13 licence can deliver the Indian and as well as foreign-made liquors to consumers at home.

"The licensee shall make delivery of liquor at the residences only if the order is received through the mobile app or online web portal and no delivery shall be made to any hostel, office and institution," the Delhi government said in a notification.

Buyers can place the order using mobile phone apps and websites. The details of the apps and online portals are yet to be released.

According to reports said government order is intended to reduce the long queues outside the liquor shops amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the Arvind Kejriwal government had imposed strict restrictions to contain the spread of Covid infections last month, long queues were witnessed outside the liquor shops in Delhi.

Now as the Delhi government plans to unlock gradually it allowed some liquor shops to deliver buyers at home.

Soon after the news broke, several Twitter users came up with various memes related to the order.

While some resorted to a little sarcasm, others questioned the priority of government during the pandemic.

Here's a glimpse of some of the memes on Twitter:
