COVID-19: West Bengal movie theatres get nod to reopen with 50% seating capacity
Kolkata/IBNS: Besides extending the ongoing anti-Covid-19 restrictions with existing relaxations till Aug 15, the West Bengal government on Thursday night announced that cinema halls in the state will be allowed to open with 50 per cent of its seating capacity from Saturday (July 31).
Earlier in the afternoon, issuing an order, Bengal Chief Secretary H.K. Dwidevi stated that the ongoing restriction on any type of non-essential and non-emergency movement of vehicles and individuals between 9 pm. to 5 am. will be in force till Aug 15.
Meanwhile, the state has also allowed government programmes in indoor places with not more than 50 per cent of the total seating capacity.
"Wearing of masks, maintenance of physical distancing and health and hygiene protocol must be followed at all times," the order read.
"District administration, police commissionerates and local authorities shall ensure strict compliance of the stated directives. Any violation of the restriction measures will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and under Indian Penal Code (IPC)," the notification added.
